Featured show contributor Katy Crossen called our comment line and left the message below. Unfortunately we could not get her on the air today, but nonetheless felt it important to echo her sentiments regarding Cincinnati Recycling. For her efforts (or perhaps in spite of them), Katy will be receiving a Brian and Joe Radio Show magnet like the one pictured below. Thanks Katy!

Joe and I find inspiration in all sorts of places, and among all kinds of people. In 1992 our interest in broadcasting began in earnest with an internship at 55KRC, one of the early powerhouse AM stations in Cincinnati. But even before spending sweltering summer evenings above downtown on Highland Avenue, we were motivated to learn and to share stories. For Joe, his childhood inspiration included many of the local news journalists and radio personalities. He would listen to Jerry Thomas in the mornings, and in the evenings watch the Channel 9 News anchored by Al Schottelkotte. I, on the other hand, was influenced by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, two quintessential American authors who also happened to be journalists.
The summer of 1992 isn’t all that long ago, but much has changed both in the media and in our lives. The Internet transformed all aspects of our culture and has altered the way we consume information and entertainment. Throughout the years Joe and I have tried to keep pace with innovations like streaming audio, podcasting, and social media. Yet despite the all the new technology, we have learned that the fundamentals of delivering quality content and information have not changed.
Despite the challenges we face by living in separate cities, having a humble budget, and leading busy lives, we try our best to deliver compelling and quality content with each episode of The Brian & Joe Radio Show. Over the years we’ve added to our role models and heroes. (This week we posted a photo of Brian and Joe with Al Franken in 2004 on our Facebook page.) And throughout our journey in the world and in front of the microphone, we greatly appreciate the fans, friends, and family members who have guided us along the way. We don’t know what the future will bring, yet our goal will always be to deliver stories and interviews in a thoughtful, constructive, and entertaining format.
